Black Ice Dog Sledding Equipment

Our harnesses are designed to give your dog unrestricted movement and to evenly distribute their work load. Each harness is sewn with extra nylon stitching at the stress points. All harnesses are made of durable nylon webbing with a thick Polartec 300™ padding. These harnesses have been put to the test by some of the best weight pullers, sledding and freighting dogs.

Yukon Sledding Harness HS51 $20.50
A sleek harness for racing, recreational sledding, and skijoring. This style is excellent for hard to fit and larger dogs. The open back allows the webbing to conform to the dog's body. It is made of 1" heavyweight nylon webbing with thick gray Polartec 300™ padding on the neck and breastplate. A nylon rope loop on the rear of the harness is used as a point of attachment to the gangline.

X-Back Sledding Harness HS52 $23.50
Over the years, this style of harness has proven to be the most popular harness design. Our Black Ice X-Backs are made to give excellent freedom of motion and feature side straps which lie further to the back of the harness, providing less pressure on the rib cage and allowing for greater lung expansion. The self-adjusting "x" across the dog's back provides a better fit. This style is popular for lean bodied racing dogs and dogs in good physical condition. It is made of 1" heavyweight nylon webbing with thick gray Polartec 300™ padding on the neck and breastplate.

Black Ice's Northstar Harness HS54 $33.50
Black Ice Northstar Harness

This top of the line harness features our popular X-back design with extra comfort options for your dog. It is made with our 1" heavyweight nylon webbing. The neck of the harness is padded with 1/4" neoprene covered with thick charcoal gray Polartec 300™ to provide additional shock absorbing capacity. The thick Polartec 300™ padding continues down the breastplate and is extended under the dog's front legs and along the rib cage for extra comfort and reduced coat wear. A woven polyethylene loop on the rear of the harness makes gangline hookups easier for you. Let your dog enjoy the comfort of the Northstar harness.

Harness Options:
The following options may be added when ordering harnesss.

Extended Padding HS57 $8.00 extra per harness
We can extend the padding on the breastplate under the chest and behind the front legs, for greater comfort and reduced coat wear. This feature is often used for long distance racing. This option is already included in the Black Ice Northstar Harness.

Oval Loop HS58 $1.00 extra per harness
We can substitute a woven, oval shaped polyethylene loop for the standard tied nylon rope loop on our sledding harnesses. The poly loop is stiffer and reduces fumbling in cold weaather hookups. This option is already included in the Black Ice Northstar Harness.

Reflective Strips HS59 $6.00 extra per harness
Four strips of reflective Scotchlite Strips can be added to each harness so you can see your dogs better at night and for greater safety in the dark.

Custom Sizes HS60 $10.00 extra per harness
We offer a wide range of sizes to accommodate most dogs. However, if you want a custom fit, we would be glad to sew a harness to your measurements. Please measure carefully since these harnesses are not returnable.
